AD Model Builder
The ADMB software suite (Developed by Dave Fournier of Otter Research) is an environment for non-linear statistical modeling enabling rapid model development, numerical stability, fast and efficient computation, and high accuracy parameter estimates. AD Model Builder is a high level language built around the AUTODIF Library, a C++ language extension which transparently implements reverse mode automatic differentiation. A closely related software package, ADMB-RE, implements random effects in non-linear models. ADMB is extensively used for modern fisheries stock assessments.
The ADMB Foundation is a non-profit organization formed to promode the use and development of ADMB. The ADMB project was set up to to promote wider application of ADMB to practical problems and to assist current ADMB users to become more proficient. The course material from the recent ADMB course held at NCEAS can be downloaded here, but will be transferred to the ADMB-project site soon.
